The Yarmouth Summer Celebration Kick-Off is a non-profit event, traditionally taking place the last week in June, that heralds the start of the summer season in Yarmouth, a seaside town located in the heart of Cape Cod, Massachusetts. Our events serve to celebrate the historical and cultural richness of the town and the Cape Cod region. The volunteers running the event are committed to promoting events that are family friendly, encourage active lifestyles, celebrate local culinary traditions and support our small businesses.

Highlights of the Yarmouth Summer Celebration Kick-Off include: a fireworks display, salt-water fishing clinic and derby, ice cream social, summer beach barbeque, beach fun run, Cape Cod Baseball League games, nature walks by Cape Cod Bay, ballroom dance lessons, docent led tours of places on the Old King’s Highway historical register, kite flying exhibitions at the beach, amateur sand sculpting contests, and the creation of about 40 3-ton sand sculptures at local businesses constructed by professional sand sculptors.

Our History

In 2010, citizens and members of the business community launched an effort to celebrate the Town of Yarmouth, Massachusetts, spotlighting the summer activities associated with a traditional family-friendly vacation, as well as the history of the town, cultural experiences and outdoor recreation available on Cape Cod in the summer season. Through a grant from the Yarmouth Tourism and Preservation Fund, sponsorships from local businesses, donations and volunteer efforts, the first annual Yarmouth Summer Celebration Kick-Off began in June of 2011 bringing a renewed excitement to the start of summer. Over the next four years, the calendar of events surrounding the Yarmouth Summer Celebration expanded to include more activities that support the event’s goals, and a need to organize more formally arose. In 2015, the committee members of Yarmouth Summer Celebration filed with the Commonwealth of Massachusetts to organize as a non-profit corporation (Celebrate Yarmouth Inc.) with the goal of building a strong foundation to continue the event annually and support other similar efforts in the future.
